It’s simply a situation, decision-point, dilemma or challenge that you are going through. Maybe you need to hire someone new to your team. Maybe you need to weigh multiple options in making a decision. As Ray says in the Principles, most everything happens over and over again - and principles are well thought-out ways of responding to whatever “situation” comes your way. Coach is populated with several hundred common life and work situations and based on your feedback, will grow overtime.
I can't find what I'm looking for.
There are a couple different ways to find the guidance you’re looking for in Coach, Text Search and Category Search. If you’ve used those methods and are still struggling to find the guidance you want, we may not have it included yet. In that case, please see Suggestions for how to suggest new guidance for the Principles team to include in Coach. We plan to use your feedback to add to our library and improve the guidance we offer users. For more information on what information is available in Coach generally, please see What’s in Coach.
My situation ratings won’t save.
Because we are constantly evolving and striving to improve the guidance available in Coach via situations, we don’t lock in any of your situation ratings. When you tap to leave a rating on the 5-star rating scale within a situation, your rating is automatically communicated to the Principles team. The next time you come back to that situation, you’ll see the 5-star rating scale available again, should you have an updated rating based on any changes there may be to the guidance available.
Where can I see my saved situations in Coach?
Saved situations can be accessed from the Saved Situations link on the Coach landing page.
Why does a principle within a situation not have the “Open in book” option?
Ray and the Principles team are constantly working to improve, evolve, and add to the principles available in Principles in Action. As Ray writes new principles, we’ll aim to add those to both the book, Principles: Life & Work, as well as Coach. However, there may be instances where these two things fall out of sync. In that case, you may see a principle within Coach that hasn’t been added to the book yet. Those principles in Coach that aren’t available in the book will not have the “Open in book” option
